The Sheriff's Office was pleased to be able to put a trained canine team into a patrol in February of 2004. This dog was purchased through assistance of Senator Dale Volker who provided the funding for the purchase, training, and equipping of the canine unit.

Ceylon and handler Sgt. Steven Stenson are trained in narcotics detection and tracking. In addition to sniffing for drugs and hunting down bad guys, Ceylon enjoys mingling with the public and getting to know young folks too. Ceylon and Sgt. Stenson are available for public appearances by contacting the Sheriff.
