They Wyoming County Health Department staffs Public Health Nurses that administer a wide variety of programs. The programs are designed to promote physical and mental well-being and healthy lifestyles. Some of these programs are explained below.
Maternal Child Health - Prenatal and postpartum home visits are available as well as expectant parent classes.
Lead Screenings - Provides lead screenings for pregnant mothers or families of infants under the age of 6 months.
Injury Prevention - Child safety seat fitting stations are available on a regular basis. Other programs are offered on a limited basis.
Immunizations - See immunization clinic page
Cancer Prevention Partnership - Provides colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screening services to the un-insured and under-insured and promotes positive preventive health.
HIV/Aids Awareness and Prevention - Provides education about risk reduction. Provides confidential, anonymous screening for HIV infections.
Chronic Disease Prevention- Heart Health, Nutrition, Diabetes, and Smoking Cessation services are available.
Communicable Diseases - The NYS Department of Health requires all physicians and laboratories to report any communicable diseases to the health department.
