Water Supplies

Public Water
Program Goal:
To ensure that public water supplies are operating in compliance with Part 5, Subpart 5-1 of the New York State Sanitary Code, thereby minimizing potential public health concerns.

Program Highlights
-Conduct inspections of public water supplies
-Surveillance sampling
-Private compliance monitoring sampling as needed
-Respond to complaints and conduct investigations
-Review and approve proposed plans adn specifications
-Provide training, guidance and education
-Review and approve water system operators as per Subpart 5-4
-Issue Public Health Notices and Advisories.

Private Water
Program Goal:
To minimize potential contaminatino of private water supplies and to ensure that development of new private water supplies are in compliance with Appendix 5-B of the New York State Sanitary Code.
Program Highlights:
-Collect Water Samples
-Conduct property site inspections
-Provide guidance and education to homeowners
-Repsond to complaints and conduct investigations
