Wyoming County Planning & Development is your local source of census information!  Our Census affiliate program offers data services to the Wyoming County community.

With Census 2000 data collection complete, figures can be used by county residents and organizations for various purposes, including:

·         program implementation;

·         infrastructure design;

·         business planning;

·         social service delivery; and

·         research.

As the 2000 Census data is released over the next two years, information will be accessible to all interested segments of the County.  Our purpose is:

To maintain an active program of data services for County Departments, local governments and districts, community based organizations, religious groups and businesses.  To assist and equitably distribute data among traditional and non-traditional Census data users.

Planning & Development Staff can assist Census data users by:

·         Providing information from Census 2000

·         Helping users locate data on the Census web site or other formats

·         Providing explanatory information about data and data products

Staff will generally provide phone (237-4110) and fax (237-4113) assistance. The County Planning and Development Department is the coordinator of this program.  Because our staff is limited, and not always available, please call us to set up an appointment to visit our office.

Early Highlights of the 2000 Census include:

Wyoming County’s population increased 2.2% in the 1990’s.  The decrease in average household size was more than offset by an increase in the number of housing units and individual and family households.  Consistent with national trends, Wyoming County’s population is growing older.
